“Lateral Motion” is our most recent project with artist Phlyssa Koshland. Koshland provided a 1:4 maquette of the sculpture and Ben Gurion University (BGU) in Israel dedicated a large (33’ x 14’) wood-paneled wall at the National Institute for Biotechnology in Nagev, to house the sculpture. EDD’s role was to build, finish, deliver, and install the completed sculpture in Israel.
The scope of work involved things such as converting the model in to a 3-D shop drawing. Design and fabrication of custom joints to connect custom-finished molecular spheres. Design and fabrication of suspension method for the entire piece using only 4 attachment points.
EDD overcame the logistical challenges of fabrication in the United States and installation in Israel.
