The county is processing interior renovation projects on a walk-thru, one day review schedule

There is no limitation to the project size, but there are a few minimum requirements:

1. Use group must remain the same.
2. No structural alterations to the building.
3. The project must be on one floor. If you have a two-floor project, you can only do the walk-thru review if you issue two separate permit sets – one for each floor.

EDD Awarded Howard Hughes Medical Institute Project

EDD has been awarded a project to develop a new design lounge spaces at Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Chevy Chase Campus.

EDD will convert existing library space into a bar/ lounge and recreation area.

WPEO Honors Muszynski at Celebrate Access Reception

EDD President, Carol Muszynski, was recognized at the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization’s (WPEO) Celebrate Access Reception for her leadership in the woman-owned business community.

The event, hosted by Freddie Mac, was featured in the November 8th issue of the Washington Business Journal.

EDD & Gala for Entrepreneurship

EDD is a proud supporting of the “Ode to a Midsummer Night’s Networking Gala” supporting and celebrating entrepreneurship . The event will be held on August 23, 2007 from 8-9 pm at the Herman Miller showroom.

Congratulations to EDD Principals on passing the LEED® exam with flying colors! Lisa is the second Principal at the company to obtain LEED® Accreditation and is leading the initiative for other EDD staff to follow in her green footsteps.

EDD Awarded SEI Project

EDD was awarded the renovation of the Carnegie Mellon® Software Engineering Institute (SEI)’s offices at NRECA’s new 4401 Wilson Boulevard building in Arlington, Va. SEI has served the nation as a federally funded research and development center since 1984 and has offices in Pittsburgh, Colorado Springs, Colo., Frankfurt, Germany, Huntsville, Ala., Los Angeles and Arlington, Va.

Principal Named to IIDA Board

After successfully chairing the Cosmo Couture event, EDD Principal Pedro Nunez, IIDA was named a Partnering/Sponsorship Co-Chair for the International Interior Design Association Mid-Atlantic Chapter (IIDA MAC), Washington Metro City Center. His responsibilities will include obtaining sponsorships from area businesses for the chapter and events organized by the Washington Metro City Center.

EDD Named to Div100 Lists for Second Year in a Row recently ranked EDD among the top 100 small businesses in Virginia, the top 100 diversity-owned businesses in Virginia and the top 100 woman-owned businesses in Virginia.

This is the second consecutive year EDD has appeared on the lists. The awards program recognizes the economic power of multicultural businesses. The companies listed on the Div100 represent Virginia’s top multicultural earners and challenge the long-held notion that a diversity-owned business is small or insignificant.

Carol Muszynski Elected to Executive Committee of Rosslyn Renaissance Board of Directors
Rosslyn Renaissance has elected Eighth Day Design President Carol Muszynski to fill the position of Second Vice President of the Board of Directors’ Executive Committee. Rosslyn Renaissance, a public/private alliance of business people, residents, and Arlington County government staff, was formed to promote and market Rosslyn, serve as an information clearing house on development, and help implement the vision of the Rosslyn Plan.

EDD President to Speak at NAWBO Event

EDD’s President, Carol Muszynski, is slated to speak at an upcoming NAWBO NOVA event, on the topic of Secrets of America’s Most Successful Woman Owned Companies.

The talk, which will take place on October 4, will cover how she started and then grew her company into the successful business that it is today.

National Association of Women Business Owners® Northern Virginia (NAWBO NOVA®) is the only dues-based national organization representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs in all industries.

EDD Project Wins 2005 ABC Metro Washington “Excellence in Construction” Award

EDD led the design for Freddie Mac’s Kitchen/Servery/Grille. The team, which consisted of EDD, Forrester Construction, Nykos Associates, Metropolitan Engineering / Shapiro-O’Brien, and Frank Lunking, PE was honored with an “Excellence in Construction” Award at a ceremony held in October.

EDD’s President, Carol Muszynski, Honored as a Woman-Owned Business Star

On March 23, 2005, WBENC, the leading organization that certifies and represents 6,000 woman owned businesses, presented EDD’s President, Carol Muszynski, and thirteen other women business owners from across the country, with a Woman-Owned Business Star award at their annual black tie gala in Washington, DC.

The award honored certified women business owners who provide remarkable leadership in their business communities, inspiration to other women business owners and success within their own businesses.

EDD Receives Outstanding Business Award

EDD was awarded the title of 2004 Outstanding Women Business Enterprise, for the Washington, DC region, by The Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO) at their annual awards breakfast in New York City on January 28, 2004.

EDD, who was nominated by their clients, was evaluated with many other businesses against criteria such as quality of service and programs, and contribution to the women’s business community. The WPEO provides full service certification services for women business owners and is a regional affiliate of Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) in the New York and Washington, DC regions.
