This past week, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) had its annual National Conference in Baltimore, MD where members of our team attended! The conference was a celebration of diversity in the workforce and its mission is to help women succeed in entrepreneurial positions across the nation.
Carol, our CEO and President, is on the WBENC D.C. Host Committee and is heavily involved with their engagement program that offers mentorship for aspiring female leaders. Eighth Day Design (EDD) is proud to be a certified Women Owned Business under Carol, and we hope that our support and participation with WBENC will inspire more females to take the leap to start their own business. Carol’s advice to female entrepreneurs is to maximize their experience. “Plan ahead and clear your schedule the best you can. Be involved. Don’t hide in your room working.” Getting involved is the only way to truly expand your knowledge and grow your expertise.
The event itself and the Business Fair was a great way to meet with other female leaders and learn about novel services offered by their growing companies. We heard inspirational women speak about their journey and the lessons they learned along the way to get them to where they are today. There were other fun attractions too, like karaoke, a live band, and even some football drills!
The entire conference was extremely well attended and truly incredible; it’s hard to put into words the electric energy of the event. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so we hope some of these snapshots do the event justice!
